The Obsidian Collection includes stunning varieties of Hydrangeas with beautiful dark stems. The unusual black stem colour provides a strong contrasting effect in a winter garden. In springtime, the gorgeous blooms look attractive when used as cut flowers.
These vigorous growing varieties will reward you with gorgeous displays of blooms in late spring, set against fresh green foliage.
Three varieties to chose from:
'Storm Cloud' features large deep pink or dark purple mop top flowers.
'Black Lace' is a beautiful lace cap variety with pink, blue or mauve flowers.
'White Knight' is a stunning variety with white mop top flower heads.
* The colour of Hydrangeas varies depending on the soil pH. White Hydrangeas can not be changed to any other colour.
Members of the Hydrangea 'Obsidian Collection' prefer a bright position, but sheltered from direct sunlight and hot winds.
Plant in most soil types that are well draining, and keep the roots moist through extended periods of dryness.
Prune back to about a third of size, to a set of green buds during winter.
Feed in early spring with a slow release fertiliser for best results. Fertiliser more often if grown in containers, according to manufacturers recommendations.
For information on changing the colour of your Hydrangea, please speak to your friendly garden centre who will be able to guide you through this process using the appropriate nutrients.
